    Fort Aguada, located on Sinquerim Beach in North Goa, India, is a magnificent 17th-century Portuguese fort that stands as a testament to the region’s colonial history. Built in 1612, the fort was constructed to guard against invasions by the Dutch and the Marathas and to serve as a crucial water replenishment stop for Portuguese ships sailing from Lisbon. One of the most prominent features of Fort Aguada is its four-storey lighthouse, erected in 1864, which was the oldest of its kind in Asia.
