    Manila, Uttarakhand

One of my favorite places in Uttarakhand, close to Delhi, is Manila. It has fully exceeded my expectations and the expectations of everyone I have recommended this location to.
Manila Village, the home of Manila Devi, thrives in the foothills of the Himalayas and elicits a sense of serenity in visitors that does not waver despite its “enchanting” description. Many people are unaware of this unique location, which remains uncrowded for most of the year and is surrounded by dense forests and a broad view of the majestic Himalayas. It is situated in the Almora district of Kumaon, Uttarakhand.
Although Kumaoni is also spoken by the inhabitants, Hindi is the official language of Manila. Thus, communication is not an issue.

Few people are aware that Manila Village in Uttarakhand is not your average hill station. Here in Uttarakhand, in this unique place, the lesser-known Katyuri Kingdom once flourished. While traveling through Uttarakhand with companions, I saw many of the Katyuri kings’ constructions, including the Jageshwar Mandir near Kasar Devi and the Katarmal Surya Temple.
The Katyuri Kings ruled over a vast territory with great power and influence, leaving behind some of India’s most exquisite Hindu temples. They also had control over Manila.
